Prize Winners
Joël Provost
Quebec, Canada
$2,000
(Also won the draw 8 April 2013!)
November 26, 2013

I am at college studying biology and chemistry, and was already taking part in some Boinc projects before I heard of Charity Engine. I then decided that giving my computer time to help some scientific projects and giving some money to charities was the right thing to do.

I think that the prize draw is an excellent incentive to push people to participate. I have also told some of my friends about Charity Engine and got them involved. I will probably keep the money until I need to change my computer - and I will put the new one to work for CE too!

I'm Becky, 50 years old, married and living in California with three dogs, one cat and my hubby of course. I learned about distributed computing back several years ago and liked the idea, so I joined the Seti@home project. Moving on to Charity Engine was the logical next step - I love the idea that big things happen when a bunch of people do the small things working together. I like to think there is a life lesson in that somewhere.

I am a Systems Administrator working toward a Masters in Computer Science. My wife and I have two year old son. We are turning the prize money into an investment in the future, by using it to help pay for my classes. We're happy to help support international charity efforts and spread the word about grid computing.

After finishing my PhD in Operations Research 3 years ago, I was fortunate to get to work on software used to design superconducting circuits. Working on problems in engineering, mathematics, physics and operations research is a challenge, but it is something I love doing. I also get to do it from Stellenbosch, surrounded by beautiful vineyards and mountains!

I came across Charity Engine in one of the many tech blogs I read. I was really impressed by their business model and wanted to help out, so I signed up. Now I have won $1000! I am a lucky guy!

I am 27 and working as a research scientist in Glasgow. I have always enjoyed raising money for charity, having helped out with some ambitious but successful projects in the past. When I heard about Charity Engine it was a no brainer to download it, as it is one of the easiest ways to help charities!

I have been spreading the word of Charity Engine to all my friends and the fact I have won the prize money should be a greater incentive for them to download it too!
